Hi,
Happy New Year to everyone.
I'm not sure if everyone has received this survey but could people take
time to answer it? The survey is for WLCG but it will also be used by
the monitoring group. As said below do not change the subject.
Send replies to Michel: Michel Jouvin <[log in to unmask]>

Subject: LCG site survey - Please take time to answer...

Hi,
You are receiving this message as a participant to last WLCG T2 meeting in
June. If you are not the right person, please could you forward this
message to Tier2 contact on your site or in your country... And my
apologizes if this is a duplicate : we try to reach as many sites as
possible.
Before last WLCG Tier2 meeting, last June at CERN, we made a survey of the
Tier2s to get a better picture of what are Tier2s, what is their readiness
status, how they are organized and managed (in particular for Tier2
federations), what are the main issues faced by people running them...
The result was found very interesting and we'd like to update the picture
before our next WLCG meeting at CERN, next January. This survey is
complementary to the other questionnaire you probably received recently
focused on monitoring. We tried to avoid overlap in the questions. In
addition to the summary during the meeting, we'll use your input for
current work on monitoring and fabric management done by recently creating
working groups
(https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/LCG/LCGMonitoringWorkingGroups).
I'll be the coordinator for this survey, as for the previous one. Please
send me your answer directly (keeping the subject unchanged if
possible...), I'll prepare a summary for the meeting.
Focus is on Tier2 sites but T1s answers are welcome too but the
requirements and resources are probably too different to allow a real
comparison... If you want to answer as a T1, you should probably
concentrate on questions regarding administration, monitoring and
deployment.
Thanks in advance for the time you'll take to answer.
I take the opportunity of this message to wish you Merry Christmas and
Happy New Year.

GRIF (Paris region T2)
1. Organization
---------------
1.1 What's your T2 name ? How many sites are involved in your T2 effort ?
1.2 If there are several sites involved, are they independent GOC sites or
are you running a unique GOC site ? If this is a unique GOC site, is it
geographically distributed ?
1.3 How many FTEs are involved in your T2 effort (FTEs and not number of
people) ?
2. Resources available and planned
----------------------------------
2.1 Which VO(s) is(are) supported by the centre?
- LHC :
- Non LHC :
2.2 What are your planned resources at LHC startup (2008) ?
- CPU (kSI2000) :
- Disk (TB) :
- MSS (if any) :
- External Network Connection bandwidth :
2.3 What are your currently available resources ?
- CPU (kSI2000) :
- Disk (TB) :
- MSS (if any, used by grid services) :
- External Network Connection bandwith :
3. OS and Middleware
--------------------
3.1 What version of middleware are you currently running ?
3.2 What version of OS are you currently running ?
3.3 Have you got any plan (or any experience) with respect to 64-bit
support ?
3.4 If your are using gLite, how do you fell with the new release model
("continuous release") ? Do you install all these gLite updates regularly
(how often) ?
3.5 - Have you got any requirements for the middleware that could help you
to run a reliable T2 ?
4. Installation, Configuration and Fabric Management
----------------------------------------------------
4.1 What tools are you using to install and configure the OS ?
4.2 What tools are you using to install and configure the middleware ?
4.3 Are you satisfied by the tools you are using currently or are you
looking for an alternative ? What are you requirements ?
4.4 Are you sharing installation and configuration tasks with other sites ?
Are you doing these tasks for remote sites ? Or are you using configuration
maintained by another site ?
4.5 If you answer yes to the previous question, are you using some common
tools ? Have you set up the possibility for remote login between sites ?
Have you got a common monitoring infrastructure and if yes, which one ?
4.6 If you are not currently sharing these tasks with other sites, are you
considering to do so ? What are you missing to do it today (if you want to
do it !) ?
4.7 If you developed some local tools, are you ready to share them ?
5. CE Configuration
5.1 How many CE are you running ? If you run several CEs, what's the reason
(several sites, CE dedicated to a VO...) ?
5.2 Are you running a gLite CE and/or WMS ?
5.3 What batch scheduler are you using ?
5.4 How do you enforce resource sharing between VOs ? Are you using
fairshare scheduling ?
5.5 Is job prioritization supported within the share of a given VO ? How do
you enforce it ?
6. SE Configuration
6.1 How many SE are you running ? If you run several SEs, what's the reason
(several sites, SE dedicated to a VO...) ?
6.2 What SE product are you using (or do you plan to use) ?
5.5 If your site is a federation, have you any plan (or any experience) to
run a global SE for the whole T2 ?
7. T2 Status
7.1 What's the status of your T2 ?
7.2 Do you support MC production at your site (if yes, please list the
VO(s))?
7.3 Do you host datasets for grid-enabled data analysis (if yes, please
list the VO(s))?
7.3 Have you participated to SC4 ?
7.4 Is the funding (mostly) asserted for the coming 2 years ?
8. Miscellaneous
8.1 Have you got any partnership with a specific T1 ? Is this T1 in charge
of administering or supporting your resources ?
8.2 Do you plan to setup a special helpdesk/support line for grid
operations ? If yes, how many people involved and what coverage ?
8.3 Have you seen any improvement (or degradation) since last meeting ?
