I know the feeling.
MATLAB has changed a bit since SPM99 was written and I can't remember if
a patch was written to work around this problem, and we're not creating
any more patches for it. If you can code MATLAB, then I would suggest
changing the spm_defaults.m file so that each time it prints, it goes
into a new PostScript file. Alternatively, click the Defaults button
after starting SPM, setting the printing options so it is saved as
encapsulated postscript. This will print each page of output as a
separate file.

Without having made changes to anything, I started getting the following
printing error:
! - SPM99: printing problem... ------------------------------------
Error using ==> print
Error using ==> print
Error using ==>
c:/matlab6p5/toolbox/matlab/graphics/private/render
Error using ==> hardcopy
Can not read PostScript file.
- print command is:
print -dpsc2 -painters -append -noui spm99.ps
- current directory is:
E:\NNCF_Data\1041\Stroop\analysis
* nothing has been printed *
