UCL INSTITUTE OF NEUROLOGY
Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging
Postdoctoral Position
MRI Physicist/Sequence Developer
An MRI Physicist/Sequence Developer position is available at the
Functional Imaging Laboratory (FIL) in the Wellcome Trust Centre for
Neuroimaging. The laboratory pursues brain research by means of
functional and structural imaging and is equipped with a 1.5 T whole
body scanner (Siemens Sonata), a 3 T head scanner (Siemens Allegra), a 3
T whole body scanner (Siemens Tim Trio), an MEG system (CTF/VSM), and
two EEG systems, one being MR compatible. The appointee will be part of
the FIL Physics Group. Responsibilities include active support of
neuroscience research projects and pursuit of individual research
projects aimed at the development of improved MRI sequences for
functional and morphological neuroimaging. Possible projects include:
* Contrast optimization in high-resolution anatomical imaging;
* Development of motion-insensitive MRI sequences;
* Parallel imaging techniques used to optimize anatomical and functional
imaging;
* Development of fMRI sequences offering a high resolution or reduced
sensitivity to susceptibility artifacts.
Applicants should have, or be close to obtaining, a PhD in physics or
biomedical engineering, or have equivalent research experience, with a
strong background in MR sequence development. Experience with C/C++
programming, Matlab, and Siemens MR scanners and software (IDEA, ICE) is
