You can do this with these:

and something like:
resize_img(imnames, [2 2 2], nan(2,3));
Though I'm very surprised that you're having memory problems with 1mm
isotropic... how big are the images (numbers of voxels, overall size
on disk)? I wonder if there is something else the matter?
