As an addendum to my previous message, it appears that spm5 is working on
the 32-bit machine (Sauron) mentioned below. However, it is problematic on
the 64-bit machines.
All I got from the users was: "With SPM it basically just freezes as soon
are u press one. I will look up the specific error messages"
