BBSRC Open Meeting
31 January 2007, Glasgow
Dear colleague,
Julia Goodfellow, BBSRC Chief Executive, invites you to our next Open
Meeting on 31 January 2007 at The Lighthouse, Glasgow
(www.thelighthouse.co.uk/).
In keeping with previous years, this meeting is an opportunity for you
to raise any issues about BBSRC policies and decisions with our Chief
Executive and Council members. The event, The Face of Tomorrow's
Bioscience: Keeping the UK a World-Leader, will focus on BBSRC's role in
ensuring the UK has the bioscientists it needs to maintain the UK's
position at the forefront of bioscience research. Participants will hear
from leading academics and senior BBSRC advisors in this area including:
* Professor John Coggins FRSE, Vice Principal for the Faculties of
Biomedical & Life Sciences, Clinical Medicine and Veterinary Medicine,
University of Glasgow
* Professor Mary Bownes, Vice Principal for Widening Participation,
Recruitment & Admissions and Community Relations, University of
Edinburgh and chair of BBSRC's Studentships and Fellowships Strategy
Panel
* Professor Cheryl Tickle CBE FRS FRSE, University of Dundee and BBSRC
Council member
* Dr Barbara Blaney, Director, BIA Scotland
The event will be chaired by broadcaster Sue MacGregor.
Participation is free but entrance will be by ticket only. There are a
