Dear All,
Some of you may be interested in the initial findings from a pilot in Engineering Management at the University of Bristol which focused on the impact of providing recordings of lectures.
As many of us know an anxiety of many lecturers when thinking about providing a visual/audio recording of their lectures is that attendance will fall. However, the initial findings from this pilot imply that the majority of students would like a recording of the lecture as they perceive that it enhances their learning experience, but they would still attend all the lectures. It appears that students feel that attending the lecture adds an extra dimension that is not available from the recording.

If anyone else has some evaluations, or knows of some references then I'd appreciate a pointer - I'd like to put this idea of negative impact on attendance to bed, it is distracting us from more important issues.
Cheers
Andy
