Lecturer in History of Medicine (fixed term for 1 year)

The successful applicant will have a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree
and provide high quality teaching in History of Medicine, including
ethical issues in medicine up to the present, for an interdisciplinary
range of students at undergraduate and taught postgraduate level.
This fixed-term, full-time lectureship arises from a Wellcome Trust
Research Leave Award to Prof. Andreas-Holger Maehle and is tenable for
one year from 1 April 2007. In addition to the criteria specified above,
the successful applicant will also contribute to the lively research
culture of the Department (http://www.dur.ac.uk/philosophy/), which has
particular strengths in History & Philosophy of Science & Medicine, and
of the Centre for the History of Medicine & Disease
(http://www.dur.ac.uk/chmd/). Teaching experience and publications in
history of medicine or biomedical ethics are desirable.
Salary: £26,402 to £27,193 per annum
The post is subject to standard probationary terms. Further information
