The Film & Television programme at St Mary's requires a VL to teach on a
level 2 film and television studies core module, The Moving Image: Screen
Theory and Criticism.
The module introduces skills for analysing and interpreting screen texts,
offering students the opportunity to build up key skills and competences in
the theoretical methodologies of film and television studies and to practice
the close analysis of films and television programmes. It introduces
critical approaches used to analyse screen texts and examines how meaning is
produced and communicated in films and television programs.
We are seeking someone with expertise in the area of television studies to
contribute to the team teaching (with two existing lecturers). Topics you
will need to cover include codes of television, modes of address, gendered
television, tv comedy, postmodern tv, tv and queer theory.
The module is timetabled on Fridays from 1pm, and runs for 12 weeks from
mid-February. The required hours per week will be in the range of 1.5 to 2
hours. The standard VL rate for London will be paid.
