Dear Elizabeth
I signed your very worthwhile petition: I hope you will consider signing
another one, which I consider really important.
Upgrading Trident will have no deterrent effect to any likely aggressor, it
is possibly illegal under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, it will only
encourage further states to try to join the nuclear club, and we could
better spend the billions on climate change and international development.
There aren't many ways ordinary folk can give their opinion on the Trident
issue. One way is the petition on:
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/trident/
This reads "We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to champion the
Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, by not replacing the Trident nuclear
weapons system."
I hope you can sign it and persuade others to do so
Bruce

Subject: Petition on school libraries
I wonder if it would be possible for you to publicise the following petition
on the No 10 Downing Street site on your list.
I started this in December and we already have over 800 signatures, but it
would be great to keep this growing.

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to make the provision of
professionally staffed libraries within all schools, both secondary and
primary, statutory.
Thank you very much.
