University Tutor in German Language
The University of Portsmouth is looking for a German native speaker,
with qualifications and teaching experience in "German as a Foreign
Language" within the Higher or Adult education sector, to teach on our
TDA German Extension Course.
Experience within the English secondary school sector and/or Higher
education would be an advantage.
The appointment is full-time from 1 March to 31 August 2007. The
appointee will assume course leadership responsibility for the German
Extension Course and will oversee recruitment to the course in
collaboration with colleagues in the School of Languages and the School
of Education. The appointee will also engage in course materials
development to a specified curriculum. The course begins on April 30
with a three-week ab initio programme, with the main course beginning
on May 21 and ending on August 24. During the main course, the
students will spend two weeks at a language school in Germany, but the
appointee is not expected to accompany the students. The appointee
will be responsible for the assessment of students and the compilation
of final reports. Teaching hours will be daily, Monday - Friday,
between 1000 and 1600.
The person we are looking for should be happy to work as part of a
team, with an outgoing personality, and willingness to develop teaching
materials.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the University Tutor scale,
depending on qualifications and experience.
