Hi Katie,
There are no accurate figures on the numbers of disabled people, even less
so for wheelchair users. But it is not just wheelchair users who encounter
access barriers in the High Street, other people with mobility impairments
and people with visual impairments come to mind - but other disabled people
do to.
Anyway the nearest you might get is if you go the DRC website and look under
their research section for the 2006 disability briefing - there are
statistics about disabled people both in and out of work.
