CALL FOR PAPERS
Special Focus on Cultural Heritage
Due Feb. 15, 2007
International Journal of Architectural Computing
http://architecturalcomputing.org/
You are kindly invited to submit papers which will focus on the role of
digital technologies in preserving, documenting, archiving, visualizing, and
analyzing cultural heritage (CH) sites and works of architecture. The main
goal of the special journal issue is not only to illustrate the programs
underway but also excellent work wherever it is located and however it is
supported, in order to promote a common approach to the tasks of
e-documentation and protection of World Cultural Heritage.
To reach this ambitious goal the topics covered in the field of architecture
in CH include experiences in the use of innovative recording technologies &
methods and ways to integrate the results obtained to build up new tools
and/or experiences as well as improved methodologies for documenting,
managing presenting and communicating CH. The 2007 special issue will focus
on interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research concerning both
cutting-edge Cultural Heritage Informatics and use of technology for the
representation, documentation, archival and communication of CH knowledge.
The scope includes every phase of CH information technology: initial data
capture/digitization, information/data processing, reconstruction,
visualization and documentation as well as dissemination of results to the
scientific and cultural heritage communities and to the general public.
----------------------------------
Topics:
----------------------------------
Authors are welcome to submit unpublished work addressing the following
subjects:
- 2D and 3D GIS in CH
- 3D Data Capture and Processing in CH
- Archaeological Analysis and Interpretive Design
- CAD and FEM based Digital Reconstructions and 3D Modeling
- Computer Animation for CH Applications and Virtual Heritage
- Data Acquisition Technologies focusing on Photogrammetry and Scanning
- Data Management and Archiving of archaeological sites and monuments
- Innovative Graphics Applications and Techniques
- Interactive Environments and Applications for CH
- Multilingual applications, tools and systems for CH
- Multimedia in CH for the presentation, documentation and archival of CH
sites and monuments
- Natural and Man initiated destruction of Cultural Heritage and prevention
techniques
- Non-Photorealistic Rendering of CH Data
- Novel Internet-based CH Applications
- Reproduction Techniques and Rapid Prototyping in CH for archaeological
sites and monuments
- Standards and Documentation
- Tools to assist Interpretation of Cultural Heritage Sites and Monuments
- Usability, Effectiveness and Interface Design for CH Applications
- Virtual Museum Applications (e-Museums and e-Exhibitions)
- Visualization Techniques (desktop, VR, AR)
- Water-marking, copyright and ownership protection assistance via ICT

The International Journal of Architectural Computing (IJAC) is a
peer-reviewed journal dedicated to promoting collaborative research and
development of computer-aided architectural design. IJAC is committed to
deepening the understanding of the foundations of digital systems for
architectural design and the technologies enabling their development and
application.
IJAC is published four times a year by MultiScience in both electronic and
hardcopy. Successively, one issue each year is supervised by Editorial
Board members from its four founding organizations: Education and Research
in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe (eCAADe), the Association
of Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA), Sociedad Iberoamericana
de Grafica Digital" (SIGraDi), and Computer Aided Architectural Design
Research in Asia (CAADRIA). Work is coordinate by Andre Brown
([log in to unmask]), the Editor in Chief.

IJAC Paper Submission Guidelines:
--------------------------------------
Authors are invited to submit complete and original articles, which have not
been published elsewhere and are not currently under consideration for
another journal or conference:
Original research papers of 3000 - 6000 words in length report on
well-defined system implementation, theoretical results and empirical
studies that have potential impact on understanding of computational,
cognitive, and physical foundations, as well as the enabling technologies
for developing and applying Architectural Computing systems.
State-of-the-art reviews can be either reflective criticism or comprehensive
scholarly reviews of significant topics.
Brief papers present results that are important and original and are
presented in concise form.
------------------------------------
Special Notice:
------------------------------------
Upcoming deadline for Issue Two of 2007 is February 15. Manuscripts will be
subjected to a rigorous review process, then accepted authors will be
notified in early March, final manuscript will be due March 26.
