I have a number of questions, at the risk of appearing ignorant:
1) Does anyone know (and can give a reference for) where the very first
historically-recorded use of the word 'geography' occurs?
2) Given that the solidity of the Earth's surface is the result of a gradual
cooling process, have there been/are there any calculations as to the rate
of net heat loss/radiation from interior to surface and the atmosphere into
space attributable to this cooling, and how if at all does that interact
with supposed anthropogenic processes of atmospheric warming?
3) If a large pile of manuscripts is placed on a desk for marking with the
resultant maximum compression of paper (MC), is there some maximum height
(P) that the pile would reach, higher than or equal to the original maximum
compression height of the pile, as a direct result of the decompression
coming from lifting individual scripts off one by one? Presumably a formula
for calculating this would have P as a function of paper type (T), number of
leafs per script (L), number of scripts (S), etc...
You can tell I'm bored and doing marking, can't you?
