Historical Archaeological Researcher (Fixed-term)

Summary
Responsibilities will include research using both primary archives and
secondary sources, primarily for the production of archaeological desk-
based assessments. With a background in archaeology, substantial
experience in a commercial archaeological organisation and experience of
compiling desk-based assessments, technical reports and chapters for
Environmental Impact Assessments, you will also have excellent data-
gathering and synthesis skills. In addition, you will have experience of a
variety of site types in both urban and rural environments and be able to
organise your own work schedule to meet regular deadlines, working
effectively in an open office environment. The post is available
immediately until January 2008.

Assistant Buildings Archaeologist (Fixed-term)

Summary
Based at ARCUS in the Department of Archaeology, your responsibilities
will include undertaking the recording and interpretation of a wide range
of historic buildings, producing field records, archiving primary field
records, and undertaking documentary research. You will be enthusiastic,
have excellent archaeological, analytical and computer skills, be reliable
and organised and have experience of a wide range of historic building
types and have substantial experience within a commercial archaeological
environment, some of which is in the field of Buildings Archaeology.
Normally you will work as part of a team on fieldwork projects, but will
be expected to undertake archive research on your own. The post is
available from 1 March 2007 for one year.

Post-excavation Assistant (Fixed-term)

Salary: £15,133 - £16,967 per annum
Summary
ARCUS is the commercial archaeological consultancy unit based within the
Department of Archaeology. This post will involve assisting the Post-
excavation Manager in arranging the processing, cataloguing and sorting of
artefacts from urban and rural excavations of all periods. The post will
also involve the development of new post-excavation systems. The
successful applicant will have excellent IT skills, including experience
of database design and management (including Microsoft Access). In
addition you will be able to demonstrate good knowledge of British
archaeology, and have a working knowledge of some medieval or post-
medieval finds groups (eg ceramics, glass etc.). Duties will also include
the preparation of site records for archiving and deposition in local
museums. The post is available from 1 March 2007 for one year.
