Mairead
Thanks for yours Mairead - and I so agree. There's a small vacated factory
opposite the Lowestoft Football Club devoted to teaching young people
martial arts. I detest sport but the 'arts' are different. My lightly
disabled friend Colin realised himself through Judo. The grace of martial
arts is that the 'winner' and 'loser' have to aknowledge themselves as
equals afterwards.
My friend Colin became a black belt. Even if it's in the Olympics, there's
no real money in Judo and the martial arts.
Between missives I picked up a tiny booklet off the street: "School - Sports
Days.' FLYING THE FLAG: "As you're representing your school, you'll be
expected to be on your best behaviour..."
Was Jasmine's little book - and am so glad she chucked it in the street - to
be herself!
There should be a touch-stone between poetry and the martial arts. I think a
disused factory is an ideal meeting place.
Go strong, go gentle, Rupert
