Dear all,
I wondered if anyone on the list is able to help me out with a little
technical advice. I'm looking at ways in which images of violence were
reported by the BBC and others in the late 1960s, and specifically on
reporting of events in Northern Ireland.
What I'd like to know is the mechanism whereby a camera crew in, say,
Belfast, was able to relay images of rioting etc., to London for broadcast
on national TV the same day. Also, I wonder if anyone can explain the
relationship under which material filmed by, say, RTE in the Republic was
shared with UK-based broadcasters? Finally, does anyone know by what
mechanism - and under what type of agreement - BBC material would be shared
with overseas broadcasters, for instance, in the States?
Best regards,
Martin
