Hello
Yesterdays meeting when Becta explained their new role in supporting the
SEN community- of which more later-
set me to reconsidering Learning platforms and learners with pmld/sld.
Perhaps first a working definition:
Learning platforms are bunches of things which may, or may not, include
computers, peripherals, personal webspace, the ability to communicate
directly between stuff using all the different ICT devices, with loads
of content and content management.
The SEN side of things seems to be about how you can configure the
machines for the pupils individual preferences and access to their own
files.
There must be more than a simple personal profile log in (which we've
been able to do with roaming profiles on networks for ages)
but so far I haven't really found it.

Becta stuff on Learning platforms
-rather dull and uninformative
the beginnings of some interesting stuff on

I'm willing and available to get all excited and fired up over using
Learning platforms with my students (complex and pmld) or even if that's
not possible with slightly more able learners.
I'm just not sure at the moment how to do it (get excited and fired up).
After yesterdays meeting with the Becta team (of which more later),
I think perhaps we're on our own now.
