Visit to The Wiener Library on Wednesday the 17th January 2007 at 2.00pm.

The Wiener Library is the world's oldest Holocaust memorial institution,
tracing its history back to 1933. The Library holds over 700 deposited
document collections. Subjects covered by the collections include
Concentration camps, Refugees, Internment, Jewish secular and religious
life in pre-Third Reich, Persecution of Jews by Nazis including
aryanisation, Political and cultural life in pre-war Germany, War crimes
trials, Post war restitution, and Artistic representations of the
Holocaust. The Library also holds a collection of c.1200 Eye Witness
Accounts which consist of the testimonies of those who suffered at the
hands of the Nazis and much original supporting documentation. The
accounts, range in length from a few to dozens of pages, and provide a
personal insight into anti-Semitism in Europe. The vast majority of these
Eye Witness Accounts and documents are in German however comprehensive
summaries (in English) of the accounts are available. Newly catalogued
archives include the microfilmed Centralverein Deutscher Staaatsbuerger
juedishen Glaubens- the largest organisation representing Jews in Germany
before 1939.
