Dear SPMers,
We are planning to use a reverse spiral imaging sequence in one of our
experiments. Since, if we are correct, SPM has been developed and
probably also optimized for EPI images, we have the following questions:
(1) Is anyone aware of specific problems that might arise from using a
spiral sequence?
a. Can you describe any specific regions you have found of signal
drop-off or distortion using spiral sequence as compared to using EPI?
b. Are there any problems in preprocessing ? For example, are there
issues normalizing the reverse spiral functional images to the EPI
template used in SPM5?
c. What about the unwarping procedure during realignment?
(2) Would it possible for us to get a better result by the following
protocol?:
Estimate the transformation parameters by normalizing a T1 image to the
T1 template and then apply these parameters to all spiral images.
Any information will be appreciated.
Thank you for your help.
