Best Australian Poems. Black Inc.
>I noticed from a review that Dorothy has edited a collection of
Australian poetry for Black inc. (was it?) which included Les Murray.
Since they were on opposing sides in the 1980's poetry wars this
suggests a question of sorts.... it has something to do with the rural/
urban divide where the urbanites considered it Romantic to write about
rural life but I was wondering if this war came to an end when the
realisation that a good part of rural Australia had living conditions
which have been described as third world in terms of transport, health
and housing infrastructures which most coastal urban dwellers would have
not known about until recently. So writing about rural locations could
not be a writing about rural idylls. Anyways, just speculating, here.
