Dear UK geophysicists,
I have had a couple of late cancellations for the courses discussed below, so am
able to accept scientists and students from the UK. Please respond quickly, so I
know what numbers to arrange and cater for.
Please circulate this to your colleagues who may be interested.
With regards,
Alan
As part of its new continuing education programme through Short Courses, the
Geophysics Section of the School of Cosmic Physics at the Dublin Institute for
Advanced Studies wishes to announce the following two Short Courses.
Professor Gordon Cooper, Professor of Geophysics at Wits University, is coming
to Dublin and the end of January to give two Short Courses, a one-day one on
Image Processing, and a two-day one on Wavelets. More information can be found at:
http://www.dias.ie/index.php?section=cosmic&subsection=short_courses&school=geophysics
These are professional interactive courses that Gordon has given to industry
over the last few years, and come complete with manuals, CDs and software etc.
As they will take place in Merrion Sq. library, there will be a limit of sixteen
participants for each course, and each participant must have a laptop loaded
with matlab plus some of the toolboxes. We are arranging for demo versions of
matlab to be available.
The cost to academics and students is €25 per day, to cover the catered lunches,
and the cost to industry is €150 per day, of which €25 is to be paid to DIAS for
the lunches, and €125 is to be paid directly to Professor Gordon Cooper
(normally Gordon charges more than double this amount for these courses).
