Dear All
The Office for National Statistics are currently seeking further guidance
through their advisory groups on the balance of question topics for the
2011 census. Theres is a complex trade-off between the space devoted to
getting the 'coverage' right, which includes questions designed to ensure
the correct treatment of visitors, second residents etc. and that devoted
to more detailed 'content', which includes the attribute details such as
qualifications, income, etc. The Social Statistics Section and Census
Study Group of the Royal Statistical Society are organizing a meeting to
address this challenging balancing act on 20 February at the Society in
London. Details attached.
Kind regards - and Happy New Year
