Dear Mike
thank for your initiative to write an SW input to the Astronet
document. From my point of view I miss under your point (d) the
complete SW-chain, which includes also the irradiance variations,
of course in particular those in the UV that influence the
chemistry of the terrestrial atmosphere. So I propose a sentence
like:
"d) ... It should include: (i) understanding the solar brightness
variations at all wavelengths including in particular the UV that
influences the chemical composition of the terrestrial atmosphere,
(ii) ..."
I am sorry that I cannot participate at the upcoming meeting
and I would like to emphasize again, that the PMOD/WRC is very
much interested to participate in a FP7 SW proposal. We are
part of the upcoming LYRA/PROBA2 experiment and based on LYRA
data, we intend to provide a nowcasting of the state of the
chemical composition of the upper terrestrial atmosphere.
