Subject: [SHCG-LIST] MDA partnership proposal

Dear All
I wanted to update you on talks that I've been having with Nick Poole of MDA on behalf of SHCG. Following on from Nick's attendance at this year's conference, he and I met to discuss future partnership working. As a result, MDA have offered SHCG a formal partnership agreement. They are keen in particular to support the maintenance and development of firstBASE and our website. Other aspects of the potential partnership would include joint marketing, the possibility of joint training events, and the involvement of SHCG more formally in the ongoing development of SHIC. MDA's offer includes a contribution to SHCG's funding for the duration of the proposed agreement until March 2008, with the option for extension if both parties agree.
Both the firstBASE steering group and SHCG Committee discussed the proposed agreement in full at our meetings on 8th December, and we are very keen to take this fantastic opportunity. I am currently waiting to hear back from Nick for a response on various comments and queries to clarify certain aspects. If everything seems in order, we would plan to start the agreement fairly early in the new year.
However, the Committee as a whole do not want take this decision without the chance for the membership to express their opinion, so I would be very happy to discuss any aspect of this with you if you have queries or concerns.
Best wishes - and Happy Christmas!!
Briony
