Heya Greig,
I had checked both our usual area for our d-cache logs
(/var/log/d-cache) and where all the
other logs are kept (/var/log), but neither seemed to have any
full-bodied d-cache log files in them. There was however a strange
symbolic link in /var/log/d-cache. I killed it and set the logArea
variable in dCacheSetup was to /var/log/d-cache (also setting all
printouts to 3), restarted everything, and my log files are filling up
nicely.
As to the pnfs dir permissions thing, I think I agree with the general
consensus. The directory was created around midnight, things seemed a
little busy, so whatever gremlin causes this feature cropped up.
Thanks for the help and advice chaps,
Matt
