The University of Bath is launching a new Masters Programme in
International Social Policy, commencing in September 2007.
The programme includes both the comparative analysis of social policy
developments in different countries and world regions, and the analysis of
global social policy-making at the supra-national level. It gives central
attention to the links between social policy and economic development,
including the rise of knowledge-based economies and the new risks of
insecurity with which globalisation is associated.
The programme comprises a mix of compulsory and optional modules taken over
two semesters, followed by a dissertation, enabling students to tailor
their degree to suit their specific interests. There will be a number of
joint activities with international organisations and with partner
universities in Europe, East Asia and elsewhere.
The Department of Social and Policy Sciences is one of the leading research
centres in social policy in Britain. It has an international reputation,
having been rated excellent in teaching and Grade 5 in the most recent
Research Assessment Exercise.
