Basic Traumatic Incident Reduction (One day introductory workshop)

One day
Fee: £95 (£70 if booked simultaneously with Module 2)
Venue:TIR UK Offices, Oval, Kennington

The introductory day includes the following and more :

* A contextualization of Trauma and TIR
* How to perceive if the client is engaged in processing unassimilated
material
* Optimising the client's ability to make progress
* Each attendee will both give and receive real TIR sessions after
supervised practice of a range of skills
* Recognizing cognitive shifts and other optimum points for ending the
session

A Brief Description of TIR :

Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) is a non-evaluative, client-led
mindfulness-oriented procedure that enables the client to undo repression
and increase awareness of past events that still effect his present. The
basic TIR procedure also responds to how traumatic experiences 'network' and
identifies other less obviously related incidents that can be complicit in
the maintenance of symptoms. The broader subject of TIR consists of a range
of theoretically consistant counselling tools, designed to respond to many
different needs and situations.

TIR workshop Level I Module II Thematic TIR and Unblocking , 2 day (TIRW
Certificate)

Two days
Fee: £220
Prerequisite Introductory day - Basic Traumatic Incident Reduction Workshop
Venue: Belsize Park, London

This workshop completes the first level of TIR training and is the second
part of the introductory two day workshop. It includes the second form of
TIR - Thematic TIR. This is a method for reaching traumatic incidents that
the client is unaware he has. TIR is a client-titrated approach and
therefore the client decides what he/she is ready to confront. The
unblocking technique is also contained in this workshop. The 'Unblocking'
technique is a broadly applicable technique, based on a range of concepts in
line with the mindfulness movement. Here are some examples of areas that are
may be addressed with unblocking:

*	'Your marriage' (a general area of a persons life)

*	'Your fear of heights' (any phobia or other recurring unwanted
emotion)

*	'Your boss' (specific people you client has issues with)

*	'Arrogant people' (general personality types the client has trouble
with)

*	'Learning' (areas or abilities the client struggles with)

*	'Money' (particular things or subjects the client has problems with)

*	Your self-esteem' (abstract concepts referring to any part of a
person's subjective world)

As you apply the Unblocking technique, awareness is expanded using a
repetitive exercise designed to maximize the client's focus and perceptions
of his mental environment. Inner objectivity and perspective are increased
by asking the client to look from the point of view of a range of specific
concepts (20 in all). These concepts are based on the common ways we stop
ourselves from being mindful i.e. common ways in which we judge and suppress
our own thoughts and feelings to ill effect.Training in the Unblocking
procedure, a method for reducing stress in a general area of a client's life
such as 'Your job', 'Your marriage'. Unblocking is also useful for preparing
a client for more intense exposure work. A training in TIR grounding
procedures

TIR II Expanded Applications Workshop, 3 days (TIR-EA)

Three days
Venue: TIR UK offices, Oval, Kennington
Fee: £320 (£295 if booked four weeks in advance)

This workshop greatly expands upon the first level of TIR training, moving
you into the subject of designing detailed TIR case formulations. This is
done using a well developed approach for integrating a wide range of tools
into a single case plan. See below for more details.
This workshop was developed after extensive interviews with graduates of the
TIR Workshop, their trainers, and their viewers. The new methods taught in
this workshop render TIR and unblocking applicable to a wider range of
clients and client issues.

Section I - The Basics
Review of the common trouble spots
Engagement - What is a Session? How to understand if the client is really
engaged or not.
Communication Exercises - Methods for enhancing rapport
Additional tactics for clients who struggle to contact certain incidents

Section II - Case Preparation and Case Progress
Exploration as a Lead-in to TIR
Short Unlayering and Recall Techniques - Enhancing recall
"Get the Idea" - a Remedy for Fixed Ideas
Communication with the Body - A form of body work

Unblocking Relationships - Defusing the stress of difficult relationships
Grounding Techniques - These involve the client focusing repetitively on the
present moment.

Section III - Further Applications of TIR
TIR on Pleasant Experiences - For increasing confidence
Communication with a Departed Loved One - For bereavement
Future TIR - For overcoming fears of possible futures
Long-Term Trauma - Dealing with Type II PTSD - Enabling clients to separate
incidents
Section IV - Case Planning
Some Case Planning Notes
Handling Wrong Indications - For overcoming the effects of invalidation from
others/bullying
Gradient of Viewing Actions - An approach for making smoother progress
Case Planning Using the Chart Method, Including Sample Intake Assessment

Section V - Remedial Actions
Using Unblocking to Repair TIR
