We upgraded to IPM as part of the CfH to replace an outdated system. In fact
it has been a downgrade. Causing more problems than it is worth. That is
without any clinical functionality built in.
You may want to contact Derek Burke at the childrens hospital, who has
helped implement a bespoke IT solution for there ED, see what advice he has
to offer.
How are you planning to get paperless....medical staff typing in at varying
slow speeds, or voice recognition software?? (that was a solution an ED
physician was using in America and was discussing it on the EMRAP series)

Subject: IT systems and the paperless ED
We've been offered a bit of money by the Trust to try and
upgrade our ageing IT system and go paperless. If anyone
is using a paperless system I would love to hear the pros
and cons of their system. Contact me off list on

Merry Christmas
