I just read the Lament yesterday. quite beautiful & shufflingly shocking.
I'm surprised at the tone with which you describe advent calendars, I
thought they were a worldwide phenomenon. they're 50% of christmas in any
finnish household (we have an angel-themed one on our fridge tastefully).
