McHeath, Lurch Merchant: Found Poem
To the Resident or Home Owner:
on behalf of Mandala Films
I write about our pre-production
of a feature film called 'The Tender Hook'.
Set in 1920s Sydney, however, most
will be shot in Melbourne,
with the cast including Hugo Weaving.
and Rose Bryne [Byrne?].
The story is of the boxing promoter
and lurch merchant [!?] McHeath
and his young mistress Iris
and the young boxer Art.
We are scouting for a house
to be McHeath's. The modernist
influence of the German architect
Adolf Loos is what we are looking for.
Our location scout has photographed
suitable locations, from which
the director and production designer
will make a short list.
Your house appears to meet the brief.
If you are interested in becoming involved,
please contact me to arrange a meeting.
Filming should take several days in March.
We will have a regular size crew of
approximately fifty persons.
We will supply you with a copy of
our certificate of public liability insurance,
a location arrangement listing
negotiated location fee and a copy
of our safety report.
I look forward to speaking with you.
Guy Sutherland, Location Manager
[ - no, not our new brick house in Doncaster,
but my in-laws' old yellow brick in Balwyn;
also, Loos was Austrian -
influence down under unlikely.
