Not that it has anything to do with anything..................... but
way back ( OK 13 years) when I was a PRHO I worked on an endocrinology
team in the NE of England for 6/12. My consultant at the time was an old
style bow tie et al physician who did a weekly ward round and loitered
in clinics and offices in between times. Nice chap, saw quite alot of
him.
The other consultant 'on' the ward, a professor no less, has
subsequently risen to 'great' things. I would like to say that I would
recognise him and him me, but sadly I never met him in 6/12. I wonder
what became of him?
Incidently the hospital did not have an A&E nor any A&E consultants at
all...... but merely a GP assessment area of 8 bays and 'direct
admission' to specialties.
Ah..enough reminiscing.

Incidently talking of absent Bosses my Great Uncle ( a doctor) was
playing Full Back for Scotland against Ireland at Murrayfield in the
1930s . A Scot was injured and the Scottish team doctor was called onto
the pitch. He was an eminent Edinburgh orthopod type. My G-Uncle wanders
over to offer assistance to be met by the orthopod who said 'No thank
you, who the devil are you anyway?'. My G-uncle replied 'I'm your
Houseman sir. This is why I needed Saturday off Sir'...what was said
next is not recorded.

Y'all are not being positive enough...
Think about the next Tzar - here is at least one EASY & GOOD thing that
he/she will be able to do... Getting rid of the major consequences of
this
current bright spark...
More to the point, there is no way this will make sense to people on
this
list... Why should it... You are all Emergency Physicians, or one of
the
other specialties/professions with knowledge & experience in Emergency
Work.
If the government wanted ideas which made sense to an Emergency
Practitioner, then they would have chosen a Tzar with some experience
in the
field...
