1. New Home Organisations: SUPSI, NTB and HTW Chur
--------------------------------------------------
We welcome the following universities of applied sciences to SWITCHaai:
- SUPSI (Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera Italiana),
- NTB (Interstaatliche Hochschule fuer Technik Buchs) and
- HTW Chur (Hochschule fuer Technik und Wirtschaft Chur).
They all now operate a Shibboleth Identity Provider as well.
2. AAI Info-Day 2006
--------------------
The fifth AAI Info-Day was attended by 80 people, primarily from Swiss
universities.
The SWITCHaai project team presented recent achievements and an outlook
to 2007. Guest speeches were given by Bernd Oberknapp from the
University Library Freiburg (Germany), Wolfgang Lierz from the
ETH-Bibliothek and Cedric Gaspoz from University of Lausanne.
All slides presented are available as PDF files at

3. Group Management Tool released
---------------------------------
An initial version of the Group Management Tool (GMT) is now released.
The GMT is a web application developed by SWITCH to create and manage
groups of Shibboleth users. The group information can be used by other
web applications to make access control decisions.
The GMT can generate Apache .htaccess files to restrict access to web
server directories based on the unique ID of a user. Alternatively, the
group information can be queried by a remote host via a PHP or Perl
interface.
The GMT is still work in progress and major changes may be introduced in
upcoming versions. We appreciate your feedback and suggestions.

4. AAA White Paper "Enhancing SWITCHaai with
Micropayment Functionality for Swiss Universities"
--------------------------------------------------
The white paper outlines how the present infrastructure can be extended
by adding (micro-)payment functionality. By way of three specific use
cases, it shows how the proposed payment infrastructure could be used to
do accounting for inter-organisational transactions. It also addresses
the integration of existing local payment solutions related to
electronic student cards.
The white paper is available at
