To Liz:
You might want to contact Jeremy Michelson, the Education Officer at
Manchester Jewish Museum, where I worked as Director between 1997 and
2001, regarding audio guides for the visually impaired. The museum began
introducing them just around the time that I left and I think they got
financial support from the local Area Museum Council. I realise that
time and technology will have moved on rather in the last five years,
but it may well be worth having a chat with Jeremy anyway as he has also
trialled audio guides for those with visual impairments on behalf of the
Imperial War Museum in London. His contact details are: 0161 834 9879
(telephone) and [log in to unmask] (e-mail).
Best wishes
Jim Garretts, Keeper, the People's History Museum.
