The Department of Social and Policy Sciences at the University of Bath
seeks to appoint a full time Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in the field of
social security and social protection policies, specialising in the use of
advanced quantitative methods and, preferably, with experience in cross-
national research. The successful applicant is expected to have a
background in social policy, economics or other core social sciences. S/he
will be expected to contribute to research in the field of social security
and wider social protection measures, in the context of changes in the
labour market, family dynamics, etc.
It is expected that the successful applicant will possess a PhD, a good
publishing record of internationally recognised research, and have some
experience of successful application for external grant funding.
Exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for a Readership.
Alongside research, the successful applicant will be expected to carry out
teaching duties in both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes,
and to supervise research students. The Department of Social and Policy
Sciences has been rated 5 or its equivalent in all previous Research
Assessment Exercises.
The successful applicant will join a team of established researchers
associated with the Centre for the Analysis of Social Policy (CASP),

Salary: Salary in the range of Lecturer £29,991 - £38,448 or Senior
