hi
In the days when I worked for the National Trust we had a national
programme of volunteers working on monitoring monuments as well as wardens
There was/is a good example at the east midlands office where the
volunteers monitored monuments and a volunteer put those on the SMR
There was a whole host of guidance and I gave support and training to the
volunteers as did the wardens
I really do not know what has happened since I left but I would suggest you
contact the Archaeology Section of the National Trust as if they continue
it they will have guidance and experience of running such activity

| Subject: Volunteer monitoring of Monument condition |
>--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Hello folks
I have been tasked with trying to develop a volunteer project for them
to monitor Monument condition for us.
I believe some places are already running this sort of thing - is that
so? I a aware of the Yorkshire Dales project and been in touch with
them, but also believe Leicestershire do something like this?
If so, would any of them be willing to let us see any Pro formas that
have been developed, and any other documentation?
thanks
best wishes
