Subject: ICOMOS-UK Christmas Lecture and Wine Reception 2006
We would like to invite you to this year's ICOMOS-UK Christmas Lecture and
Wine Reception:
Climate Change and Cultural Heritage: Society's Great Challenge
by Fiona Reynolds CBE, Director-General of the National Trust
on the 7th of December, 2006 at 6.30pm at the Gallery, 77 Cowcross Street,
London EC1M 6EJ
Society cannot ignore climate change - its impacts are already being felt.
The impact on the environment and economy is now widely and sometimes
dramatically forecast. Less discussed is the impact of climate change on
cultural heritage - historic buildings, gardens, farmed landscapes - and the
cultural and social processes associated with them. But these impacts will
be no less drastic and could be felt right across society.
In this timely lecture, in the light of the Stern Report, Fiona Reynolds,
Director-General of the National Trust, will speak on how the Trust is
learning to adapt to climate change and mitigate its worst effects on
cultural heritage. She will also address the need for all of us to call on
Government to deliver a robust and targeted climate change strategy.
Admission (including wine and mince pies after the lecture ) is £15 for
members of ICOMOS-UK. Admission for non-members is £18 and for students it
is £10. Lecture flyer and booking form can be downloaded from our website:

We do hope you will join us on the 7th December.
Kind regards,
Mrs Rikke Osterlund
