Turning Point - Call for Expressions of Interest (EOI)
Turning Point is the UK's leading social care organisation. We provide
services for people with complex needs, including those affected by drug
and alcohol misuse, mental health problems and those with a learning
disability. We provide services in 200 locations across England and
Wales, and worked with around 130,000 people last year:

In order to fulfil our mission to put our services users at the heart of
what we do, Turning Point wish to develop a robust, inclusive and
innovative service user survey across all our services. We are inviting
expressions of interest from suitably qualified researchers/research
teams to undertake a development project, which will inform a survey
planned for summer/autumn 2007. It is anticipated that the project will
be in two stages:
1. A scoping exercise, which will assess internal and external
stakeholder information requirements, and explore the costs and
practicalities of conducting a sustainable large-scale survey which
meets identified information requirements.
2. Following the feasibility study, the second stage of the project
will then develop and test a methodology which would be relevant and
accessible to as many of our current and potential service users as
possible, including those to whom conventional research methods such as
questionnaires may not be accessible. The project will also build on the
first stage by developing a survey which is sustainable and meets all
stakeholder data requirements.
In order for this survey to be inclusive and relevant to all
stakeholders, service users should be involved in its development as
much as possible, including through a service user reference group or
other collaborative methods.
Applications are invited from UK academic departments, research
organisations and other bodies, either independently or working in
partnership.
To register your interest, please send an email, including your full
contact details, and a brief description of research skills and
expertise relevant to the project, to Louca-Mai Wilson, Research Officer
([log in to unmask]) by Friday 17th November 2006.
The work will go out to tender shortly after the closing date, and it is
intended that the project will be completed by April/May 2007.
Any enquiries should be addressed in the first instance to
