Research Associate - Practical Design for Social Action Sheffield Hallam University Communication and Computing Research Centre
Fixed Term for 24 months
Salary £20,234 to £26,402 per annum

The researcher will work on an AHRC/EPSRC funded project Practical Design for Social Action (PRADSA). The work will primarily involve field research in a range of social action settings, using ethnographic and other qualitative methods. Other tasks will include involvement in: project workshops, facilitating online activities, and project evaluation. The post will require travel within the UK, e.g. to field sites for periods of data collection. The post holder will be responsible to Dr Andy Dearden, based at Sheffield Hallam University, but will work closely with project partners particularly Wendy Olphert (Loughborough University) and Steve Walker (Leeds Metropolitan University). Candidates should hold (or be about to obtain) a PhD or should have comparable experience of conducting independent research in a relevant domain e.g. action research in a social action setting or similar, or participatory approaches to technology development/design.
