** National Inventory Research Project **
Seminar: "Researchers and Curators"
Hunterian Art Gallery, University of Glasgow
Friday 8 December 2006 2-5.30 pm, followed by a wine reception.
Free!
NIRP is working with 200 small and regional museums across the U.K.
researching and cataloguing pre-1900 Continental European oil paintings for
a searchable web database. The funding of research in museums is becoming an
increasingly important topic for debate.
At this, the project's third seminar, curators and project researchers will
present examples of productive collaborations that have inspired new
exhibitions and displays, conservation projects and re-evaluations of
collections. Project staff will discuss its background and contexts, its
methodology and future developments.
The last Glasgow seminar was described by Neil MacGregor as an
"exhilarating...and inspiring event."
