Hi Ralph,

I know what you mean about the blogs--the extra steps needed to get on make
it difficult. And like you, I tend not to go to them unless prodded (if
someone emails me an url that I can just click on). And yes, they don't have
the same immediacy--not at all. But when a topic (like rhythm or the evils
of powerpoint) takes off, we also get inundated--which can be difficult if
you're not into the particular topic being discussed. We've had a number of
valuable people leave the group because of the email storms that come
through. Also, a number of us are using slow modem connections, which are
murder when it comes to downloading picture or sound files. Hence the blog
effort. For all of it's cludginess, I think the blogs are nice to look at.
And when they go well, I get a sense of 'in-dwelling'--a place I can drop
into which is different than emailing. Clearly both vehicles have their
virtues and problems . . . and maybe the way forward is to, as David Cowan
puts it, be "mindfully yours"--think about the message and where the most
'lifeful' place for it might be. 

In terms of the .wmv file, I think it's doable. I just uploaded your Ma and
Pa Kettle clip and it seems to work okay (http://www.aacorn.net/blog/).

The one thing I notice about the blog is that a long post (like the one I
patched in on org and rhythm) seems to push all the sidebar things down to
the bottom. Ross or John, is this fixable? Also, you will all see that John
and Ross have joined Laurene's 'ning' site to the blog, under "Aacorn
members" (http://aacorngroup.ning.com/) . With the ning site it's quite easy
to put a picture and bio of yourself up--they look nice too!

A couple of comments.

I want to upload a .wmv file to the blog. That is a Windows Media Video
file. Is that possible?

Secondly, I have found it very difficult to migrate email or chat room
conversations or experiences from their moments of immediacy onto a blog
platform.
I am interested to watch this conversation progress. I am enthusiastic for
it to succeed and will continue to contribute to this new stream!!

Blogs seem to require another level of attention. They are not as immediate
and as exciting as an email that jumps into your mail box without notice.
They require you to remember a password that you did not ask for - very
difficult. I suffer from password overload - a very stressful condition when
you want to respond very quickly and informally. Somehow blogs seem to
require a more formal approach in my experience. Will we get bogged down by
the limitations of the blog format? Let's hope not.
