My Father's Signature
As I sort unwanted books,
'Arthur C. Richards -
Awakino, 1933' -
etc.
- Ah yes, JCompton, loss and also gain.
They change their skies but not their hearts who cross the seas (Horace?)
At my time of life, adjusting to retirement, a recurring thought is:
What if I'd found a job in NZ that suited as well as the one in Melbourne?
Continuity of friendships was lost by the move, and I think I'd have been more
sociable and more public-minded if I stayed in NZ.
Moving suits some people, of course...
Australia from 1967 was very easy and congenial for a NZer to settle in.
best from Max in Melbourne
