Asking me if the OTO is going to assume liability
is not the point, and I still maintain that I am
addressing a problem that already exists, and not
creating one.
I said:
>> The fact is, the Cakes can contain anything at all, and

>> the contents of the Cakes that are served at any given Mass.
And Al's response was:
> Sure there is. The quality control provided by the officers presenting
> the mass following OTO policy. If you do not feel that you can trust
> them, feel free to not come to mass. I could say the same thing about
> the Catholic Church. How do I know what is in communion wafers and wine
> there? The priest could have put anything in them beforehand!!!!!
And I might agree with you about your straw-priest,
if I didn't already know better.
Because there actually is a substantive difference
between the wafers offered by the OTO's Gnostic
Catholic Church and those employed by other churches
in this country (at least), and exclamation points
be damned:
" Over 50 years of serving congregations.
Made of pure wheat flour and water without additives.
All packaging clearly labeled as a product of Cavanagh Co.
Baked and packaged in our secure facility in Greenville,
Rhode Island, where all breads are packaged minutes after
baking and are untouched by human hands.
The bakery is subject to inspection by the FDA and Rhode
Island Department of Health.
All breads have a carefully moulded sealed edge which
prevents crumbs.
Cavanagh hosts are 20% thicker, contain 25% more wheat,
feature clear cross embossing, and are guaranteed fresh
for one full year. -- Wheat -- 1 1/2" Dia. "

So, no, I don't think that the quality control provided
by the officers presenting the Mass following OTO policy,
whatever that policy may be, is enough.
I think that the future of the Gnostic Catholic Church,
as a legal religious corporation, is better served by
taking the next step and bringing the Cakes of Light
into compliance with Federal health standards, and
manufacturing them at independently run facilities,
just as other churches have done with their wafers.
And if you really want to write this all off as anti-OTO
agit-prop from a hostile outsider, be my guest.
