Please find details below of two recent reports from the Policy Press/JRF,
which may be of interest to some members of this study group:
The Policy Press have just published two reports from the JRF: 'Public
spaces, social relations and well-being in East London', by Nicholas Dines
and Vicky Cattell with Wil Gesler and Sarah Curtis, and 'Markets as sites
for social interaction' by Sophie Watson with David Studdert.
'Public spaces, social relations and well-being in East London' draws on
qualitative research in a multi-ethnic area of East London to consider the
social value of spaces. Findings have implications for 'Cleaner, Safer,
Greener', 'Community Cohesion', 'Sustainable Communities' and 'Choosing
Health' policies.
'Markets as sites for social interaction' is the first comprehensive
account of English markets as a social space. It investigates markets
throughout the country and comes to some surprising conclusions about the
role they play in the world of modern Britain.
