Dear All,
I am looking for someone to take over the co-ordination of a primary care
research network.I have been running it for about 5 years but have now
moved on and would like to hand it over. It is paid and could lead to full
or part time work depending on how far you want to take it. I have kept it
as part time because of other committments.
The group are clinicians working in primary care interested in
contraception and reproductive health so an interest in this area would
obviously help. Knowledge of the difficulties of working within the NHS
would also give you an advantage with understanding where the clinicians
are coming from in their thinking and working practices.
The Network (called The UK Contraception and Reproductive health Research
Network) have been based at Exeter Uni but have been thrown out in one of
their re-shuffles and closing of departments. It is now moving to warwick
Uni but you could be based anywhere and travel to meetings. I run the
netwrok thru email and the phone. We meet 3 times a year.
We have just finished a 4 year study looking at Implanon (a sub dermal
contraceptive implant)and need now to find more funding for other
projects. I am hoping we will get some more money to take one of the
Implanon findings further. At present the work involves supporting members,
thinking of reseacrh ideas and working them up to proposals, organising
the AGM etc. The members are all lovely but do the work voluntarily so
need support and encouragement!
It would be helpful if you have experience of applying for grants, (or
could pick the brains of those who do).
Email back for more info or ring me on: 07793361362.
We have a meeting in London on Nov 10th
