Hello everyone
My name is Roger Bennett and I teach and do research in marketing at
London Metropolitan University, specialising in nonprofit marketing. I
have access to a small amount of money that I could use to set up a PhD
research student's training day for students in the nonprofit marketing
field (and other areas if people are interested). Attedance would be
free and lunch and morning and afternoon coffee would be provided free
of charge. Attendees would have to pay their own train/bus/underground
fares to get to this university. Obviously we are talking about UK
based students in relation to this event. It may be that I can ask the
Academy of Marketing to make a contribution to students' travelling
expenses.
My aim would be to get a couple of outside speakers to talk about
specific aspects of PhD research and possibly about post-doctoral
research opportunities. PhD sudents would make brief presentations
about their work and share their experiences. Contacts and networks
might be formed. The focus would be on providing practical advice and
helping students cope with their problems. The event would take place
in Spring 2007. I believe it is very important for the SIG to encourage
PhD research in the nonprofit field.
If people are interested please will they let me know and, if there is
sufficient demand, I will start to organise something.
All the best
Roger
