Dear all,
I'm looking for information about a Mr. Edward Ashmead. He was a
mining agent and accountant in London. notably, he wrote an annual
column and table on the new mines registered the previous year for
the Mining Journal from 1876 to 1909 when he died. I was hoping his
obituary in the mining journal would furnish me with some insight
into who he was but it was very brief and simply stated that he wrote
for them for a long time and how sad they all were. It seems he had a
few addresses over the years; Broad Street House in his later years
and, for the majority of his career 2 Drapers Gardens, both in
London. He seems to have had keen insight into the mining industry at
the time and may have been a central figure, but I'm in the land of
guessing here and am very short on concrete biographical information.
What i'm trying to figure out is who he was and what his relation to
the mining industry and specifically the mining investors community
in London was during this time.
Does anyone know who this man was, how he came to write this column,
or what else he did with his time?
any insight, help, or information your collective wisdom could
provide would be greatly appreciated.
warmest,
Tomas
