I don't have any more information on the reason for impending closure
but today's Guardian, wouldn't you just know it has chosen it; with
tongue firmly in cheek, "Britain's Most Exciting Museum" (Guardian,
Diary, 24/10/06, p.31). This is the result of a, short, poll amongst
its august readership. The 'clincher'? A reader submitted the
decider-- the Museum comprises "a large number of lumps of ore in
glass cases, the glass cases being considerably more interesting"
Ouch!! It won against stiff competition from the Biggar Gasworks
Museum and the Scarborough Bee Exhibition- riveting stuff!
