Now, _there's_ a thought. Yes, bishops' gloves do traditionally have
'something' decorative in the center of the back of the hand,
although it may or may not look stigma-like. Several of the 16th-17th
century knitted gloves have an "IHS" and starburst knitted into them,
for instance.
I think my favorites are the Limoges enameled plaques from a pair of
gloves in the Treasury of the Cathedral of Cahors (France). The
left-hand one has an image of the Lamb of God; the right-hand one has
an image of (duh!) the Right Hand of God. A frightening thought <g>.
