Dear Colleagues,
On Wednesday 1st November, Dr Ruth Gregory (Durham) will give a seminar
at King's College, Department of Physics.
Time: 14h00
Place: Q135 Strand Campus, KCL
Title: Branes, Stars and Black Holes
Abstract:
Braneworld gravity is an exciting and concrete alternative to Kaluza-Klein
compactification of extra dimensions. It also gives a "hands on" testbed
for the ads/cft correspondence of string theory. I'll review branes and
brane gravity, explaining why the issue of brane black holes is so
pertinent, yet so difficult. Finally, I'll describe some recent work on
brane stars.
You are all welcome.
Regards,
Mairi
